San Marcos is a very small municipality in the Honduras. Only about 17,000 people live in this small city that is based on the highest peak in Honduras: Sierra del Merendon. The peak itself goes as high as nearly 8000 feet. However, the coffee farming takes place at about 4000 feet (or roughly 1000-2500 meters). The elevation is one of the many contributing factors to Honduras San Marcos coffee having a great flavour.

Hawit Castro family started one of the first coffee cooperatives in Honduras. This high grown coffee has notes of caramel, apricot and pear. Roasted to an espresso level, perfect for espresso but works well for all brewing methods.
